Children With Their Swim Instructor At Swim Lessons
This course focuses on a number of key areas that aid in success as aquatics instructor, including:
* Water safety at public pools, homes, natural bodies of water and more, including the Circle of Drowning Prevention and Chain of Drowning Survival.
* Hydrodynamics, including why some things float, water resistance and swimming efficiency.
* Basic safety, survival and swimming skills to help children gain water competency.
* Helping people with disabilities and other health conditions enjoy the water safely.
With successful certification, WSI’s also learn how to teach higher-level swim skills that help prepare people of all ages for any aquatic activity, as well as stroke mechanics for all competitive strokes including starts, turns and headfirst entries. Water safety certification courses include Safety Training for Swim Coaches and Basic Water Rescue and fundamentals of diving, too.
This course is a blended learning format, which means students must complete a portion of the class online, prior to the start of class. Participants will need access to a computer with internet in order to complete certain lessons (approx. 7-10hrs).

WSI Candidates:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age by the completion of the course date.

  • Must attend all course dates of the session to receive certification without exception.
